Contradictions

It is an interesting fact that hard times do produce more good, contentment, and confidence than any other season I have been through.  Shouldn’t pain and good be complete contradictions that cannot exist together?  According to our human state we should hate these times, but Peter and John rejoice to be persecuted and Paul calls his struggles “light and momentary.”  What an awe-striking and glorious contradiction…”that unto you this day in the City of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”  A Saviour who will suffer the deepest pain in the history of the world and accomplish the single greatest good in the same moment of time.  This beautiful, incarnate Saviour established this amazing non-contradiction that provides hope and confidence in the midst of a sinful and broken world.  Thank you Jesus for coming and continually reminding us that our confidence and identity are entirely wrapped up in Your presence.
